Humberto Aquino was born in Lima, Perú on October 20th, 1947. Studied Painting, Drawing and Printmaking at the National School of Fine Arts, Lima, Peru from 1965 to 1971; graduated Summa Cum Laude with the Prize National School of Fine Arts 1971; he also studied Theatrical Costume and Scenography at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Lima, 1967-68. In 1972 he was awarded a British Council Fellowship to study at Cardiff College of Art, Wales, UK. He spent two years in England and had the opportunity to travel and visit the main capitals of Europe and their Museums to study, first hand, the works of his most admired masters, especially Leonardo, Dürer, Holbein, Ingres and the contemporary Austrian master Ernst Fuchs. In 1977 he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and went to New York to study at Pratt Institute. Mr. Aquino lives and works in New York.
